“Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Across India”
Rotary Lead India
Rotary Lead India at Vizianagaram refers to a landmark partnership between the Rotary Club of Vizianagaram (part of District 3020 in Andhra Pradesh) and the Lead India Foundation, guided by the APJ Abdul Kalam–inspired “Aap Badho Desh Ko Badhao” (ABDB) transformative education model.
The program focused on students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, blending traditional Indian cultural values with 21st‑century skills across areas like emotional intelligence, leadership, health, and social entrepreneurship.
Key elements included identifying “Change Agents”—3–6 motivated students per class (7th–9th)—who received Training of Trainers (TOT), then mentored their peers throughout the year via school-based clubs known as Lead India National Clubs (LINCs). Activities ranged from daily assemblies and value-based sessions to leadership workshops, student group projects, and teacher empowerment programs. Early outcomes included dramatic improvements in school attendance, punctuality, respect for elders, homework completion, ethical behavior, and academic performance as observed by headmasters across the cohort.
In essence, Rotary Lead India at Vizianagaram represents a community‑driven transformative education pilot—integrating age‑old values with modern competencies, empowering youth as social agents of change, and enabling leadership in local school transformation.
